Jozef, Jacob and Abraham de Salomon Proops
were from a famous 18th century family of printers in Amsterdam, specialized
in Jewish religious books in various languages.
The Curaçoan Abraham Mendes de
Castro in 1762 also made use of their services, when practically at his
entire expense they printed a splendid two-column Bible in Hebrew and Spanish,
in folio, with annotations of "Or Torah". (I.S. and S. Emmanuel: History
